Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, was shot in the leg by police in a confrontation in Bulindo, Wakiso District. The incident occurred as he was returning from visiting a party lawyer and has prompted his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), to allege that it was an assassination attempt by security forces. Eyewitnesses reported that police used live ammunition and tear gas to disperse a gathering of supporters, leading to Wine's injury. He was quickly rushed to Nsambya Hospital for emergency medical treatment. NUP has condemned the attack, highlighting ongoing violence against opposition figures in Uganda under President Yoweri Museveni's regime, which has faced accusations of suppressing dissent. The police have stated they will investigate the incident but have not yet provided further details.
