Zach Edey Charged With Reckless Driving in Indiana

Zach Edey, 23-year-old center for the Memphis Grizzlies and former Purdue basketball star, has been charged with misdemeanor reckless driving after Indiana State Police stopped him for traveling 101 mph in a 55-mph zone on May 1 in Tippecanoe County. Edey was driving a Kia Sorento and told officers he was attempting to pass another vehicle. He is scheduled for an initial court hearing on June 23. Edey was the ninth overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft and earned All-Rookie First Team honors after averaging 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in his rookie season. He won back-to-back National Player of the Year awards at Purdue. Edey recently underwent ankle surgery and is expected to miss the start of his second NBA season.
