Celebrating Black History Across Southern California, Kentucky, San Francisco

February is recognized as Black History Month, a time to celebrate the contributions and history of African Americans across the United States. Various institutions and individuals are reflecting on the significance of this month, including USC's tribute to Black filmmakers and organizations, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's commemoration of four pioneering African American students who fought for desegregation. In Kentucky, local leaders, including the first Black mayor of Covington, Ron Washington, are sharing their personal histories and community efforts to uplift Black voices. San Francisco is also highlighting contemporary figures who continue to shape Black history, such as community advocates and leaders focused on social justice and economic opportunities.
