Residents of Meadow Mill in Stockport have returned home after being evacuated for three weeks due to severe flooding on New Year's Day. The building suffered significant damage, leaving residents without utilities and forcing many into temporary accommodations. Stockport Council played a crucial role in ensuring the residents could return, pushing for urgent action from the building's owners and insurance company. While power has been restored, residents are advised not to drink the mains water until safety tests are completed. Many have expressed frustration over the lack of communication regarding the recovery process and insurance support. Council leader Cllr Mark Hunter thanked the residents for their resilience during this challenging time and confirmed ongoing discussions with AXA for further support.
