San Francisco Pastor Charged with $400K Parishioner Fraud
Kenny Man Wong, a 56-year-old visiting pastor at a San Francisco church in the Sunset District, has been charged with four counts of grand theft after allegedly defrauding parishioners of over $400,000. Wong, known as "Dr. Wong," exploited his position of trust starting in 2018 by claiming to be a licensed attorney affiliated with prestigious universities, offering legal services he never provided. Despite never being licensed to practice law in California, he continued to assure victims he was working on their cases, using their shared faith to maintain trust. Prosecutors revealed that Wong used the stolen funds to purchase a home in Southern California. The San Francisco District Attorney's Office is continuing its investigation and has urged anyone with additional information to come forward. Wong was scheduled for arraignment in San Francisco Superior Court on the charges.
