Emirates Expands Ban Amid Regional Tensions

Emirates Airline has prohibited passengers from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies in checked or cabin baggage for flights to, from, or via Dubai, following a series of explosive attacks in Lebanon linked to Hezbollah. The airline has stated that any such items found will be confiscated by Dubai Police. This decision comes amid heightened regional tensions after a rocket attack by Iran on Israel and subsequent Israeli military actions, creating a dangerous flying environment. Emirates has suspended flights to Iraq, Iran, and Lebanon, with plans to resume flights to Jordan on October 6, 2024. These measures are part of broader security concerns, as experts warn of potential terrorism threats using similar tactics. Other airlines have also temporarily halted services to Beirut and neighboring areas due to the escalating situation.
