Flash Flood Warnings Affect Multiple Counties Connecticut, Delaware, Virginia

Multiple flash flood warnings and watches have been issued across parts of the northeastern United States due to heavy thunderstorms and expected intense rainfall. Hartford County, Connecticut is under an active flash flood warning with 1 to 3 inches of additional rainfall expected, threatening urban areas, highways, and low-lying zones. Most of western Connecticut, including Hartford, Litchfield, Fairfield, and parts of New Haven counties, is under a flood watch with potential rainfall up to 3 inches causing flash flooding and urban flooding risks. The New York City area has also activated its Flash Flood Emergency Plan due to anticipated heavy rains and flooding hazards. Delaware and surrounding regions face another round of thunderstorms with a moderate risk of excessive rainfall and flash flooding, with some localized rainfall totals possibly reaching 3 to 5 inches. These weather events are expected to cause flooding of small streams, poor drainage areas, and could result in road closures and hazardous conditions across the affected states.
