San Mateo Woman Arrested Amid Regional Incidents
In San Mateo, a 31-year-old woman named Luciana Romano was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a man she met on Facebook. The incident reportedly occurred after a meeting arranged on Hillsdale Boulevard, during which Romano threatened the victim's life and coerced him into withdrawing money from an ATM at a San Carlos gas station. The victim was further directed to drive to a San Carlos motel before Romano eventually left the vehicle in San Mateo. Using a Facebook photo provided by the victim, police were able to identify and arrest Romano the following day. She has been charged with kidnapping and robbery, with bail set at $100,000 for each charge. Concurrently, Northern California faced various incidents, including a fatal apartment fire in the East Bay and power shutoffs affecting over 5,000 PG&E customers for safety reasons.
