Suárez Hits Four Homers, Diamondbacks Lose in Extras
Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez became the 19th player in MLB history to hit four home runs in a single game, achieving the feat against the Atlanta Braves. Suárez hit his first three home runs off Braves starter Grant Holmes and tied the game with a solo shot off closer Raisel Iglesias in the ninth inning. Despite Suárez's historic performance, which included five RBIs, the Diamondbacks lost 8-7 in extra innings, marking only the third time a player has hit four homers and their team still lost. This was the first four-homer game in MLB since J.D. Martinez accomplished it for the Diamondbacks in 2017, making Arizona the fourth franchise with multiple such players. Suárez's season home run total rose to a league-leading 10. He expressed gratitude for the milestone, even amid the team's defeat.
