Netflix Renews Leanne Morgan Comedy Series for Season 2

Netflix has renewed the comedy series Leanne, co-created, executive produced, and headlined by Leanne Morgan, for a second season following the success of its 16-episode first season. The multi-cam sitcom debuted on Netflix's Global Top 10 and received positive reviews, benefiting from Morgan's rising popularity after her hit 2023 stand-up special I'm Every Woman. Co-creator Chuck Lorre praised Morgan as a comedic genius and highlighted the show's roots in Knoxville, Tennessee. The series follows Leanne, whose life is upended when her husband leaves her after 33 years, as she finds strength and humor with the support of her family, including her sister Carol, played by Kristen Johnston. The renewal reflects Netflix's strategy to support original multi-cam comedies, which are cheaper to produce and often take longer to build an audience, combined with strong fan and critical reception. Morgan is also set to release a new stand-up special, Unspeakable Things, in November, continuing her expanding relationship with Netflix.
