Lubbock Deputy-Involved Shooting Kills Suspect, Deputy on Leave

A deputy-involved shooting occurred on the 9100 block of Highway 87 in Lubbock County when officers responded to a 911 call about a man armed with a gun. The suspect, identified as 60-year-old Jose Luis Nunez Morales, ignored deputies' verbal commands and drew a handgun, prompting one deputy to fire. Morales was critically wounded, received first aid from deputies on the scene, and was transported to University Medical Center, where he later died.
