Abbas Shafii, a 79-year-old resident of Beaverton, Oregon, has claimed a $328.5 million Powerball jackpot, the first of its kind in Oregon for 2025. Shafii purchased the winning ticket on January 17 at a Fred Meyer store and opted for a lump sum payout of $146.4 million. He plans to use his winnings for travel, investments, and donations to nonprofit organizations. The Fred Meyer store received a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket and plans to donate $50,000 to the Oregon Food Bank. The Oregon Lottery highlights that about one-third of Powerball sales benefit state programs, including education and veteran services.
