Sudan Conflict Causes World's Largest Displacement

The ongoing conflict in Sudan, which began in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has led to a humanitarian crisis marked by widespread displacement and violence. Over 14 million people, including 11 million internally displaced, have been forced from their homes, making this the world’s largest displacement crisis this year. Reports from UN-backed fact-finding missions and the International Organization for Migration highlight rampant sexual violence, particularly by the RSF, with women and children being significant victims. Nearly half of Sudan's population now requires humanitarian aid, with severe food insecurity and disease outbreaks exacerbating the situation. The violence has also crossed borders, affecting neighboring regions and raising concerns about regional instability, while international aid remains insufficient, compounding the dire conditions faced by millions of Sudanese civilians.
