Selena Gomez Details Post-Wedding Anxiety, Rare Beauty Valuation

At Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference, Selena Gomez said she often expects something bad to follow anything good and described sobbing after marrying music producer Benny Blanco on Sept. 27 because she feared "I'm gonna die the next day." She said she oscillates between celebrating achievements and worrying they could disappear, calling that anticipation of loss her "biggest conflict." Gomez recounted periods of debilitating anxiety and depression that affected daily routines, including avoiding her bedroom, and said recovery has been a long process. She noted her Rare Beauty company has grown into a multibillion-dollar business and that she continues to promote new projects. Gomez and Blanco are reported to be happy after their Santa Barbara ceremony, attended by friends including Taylor Swift, and Gomez expressed hope for future milestones such as motherhood.
