Avalanche in Wyoming Kills Skier, Injures Another
A group of four skiers triggered a deadly avalanche on Saturday near Togwotee Pass, Wyoming, resulting in the death of 36-year-old Kenneth Goff and injuries to another skier. The avalanche occurred as the group was ascending a steep slope, burying Goff fully and partially covering another member who sustained a leg injury. Teton County Search and Rescue faced difficult weather conditions that hampered their initial helicopter response, delaying their arrival on scene until nearly four hours after the emergency alert. Rescuers ultimately transported the injured skier to safety and recovered Goff's body for transport. This incident marks the fifth avalanche-related death in the U.S. this winter, and serves as a sobering reminder of the risks associated with backcountry skiing, especially in severe winter weather. Teton County Search and Rescue expressed condolences to Goff's family and friends following the tragedy.
