Former World No.1 Westwood Qualifies For British Open
Lee Westwood has qualified for The Open at Royal Portrush, marking his first major since joining the Saudi-funded LIV Golf three years ago. Westwood led the qualifiers at Dundonald Links with a 7-under 137, expressing excitement about competing again at what he calls the greatest championship in golf. Alongside Westwood, other LIV Golf players Lucas Herbert and Dean Burmester also earned spots, while several others, including Graeme McDowell and Ian Poulter, failed to qualify. The Open will feature young Scottish amateurs Connor Graham and Cameron Adam, both making their first appearances, highlighting a mix of experienced and emerging talent. The tournament runs from July 17-20 and presents a significant stage for Westwood to reconnect with major championship golf after his hiatus. Fans and peers alike anticipate his performance, given his past successes including 25 European Tour titles and close finishes at major events.
