The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has received 29 proposals worth ₹3,300 crore from Andhra Pradesh, focusing on port development, coastal berths, and fish landing centers. Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reported that 13 ongoing projects valued at ₹2,500 crore are currently receiving financial assistance under the Sagarmala Scheme, which includes initiatives for port modernization and skill development. The ministry has already sanctioned ₹450 crore for these projects. Additionally, the Visakhapatnam Port Authority and the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) are engaged in 36 projects in the state, with an investment totaling ₹4,600 crore. Among these, 22 projects worth ₹2,530 crore have been completed, while 14 are in various stages of implementation. These developments aim to boost infrastructure and connectivity, enhancing Andhra Pradesh's role in India's maritime trade.
