Dawn Staley Invests in New Women's League

Unrivaled, a new 3-on-3 women's basketball league co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, officially launches this Friday in Miami, offering players a competitive platform during the WNBA offseason. Dawn Staley, the South Carolina coach and an investor in Unrivaled, expressed confidence in the league's potential for success, highlighting its role in elevating women's basketball in the U.S. Sue Bird praised the league's timing and its ability to capitalize on the growing popularity of women's basketball, predicting it will lead to the formation of superteams as players interact during the offseason. Many WNBA players, including Angel Reese, are expected to participate, adding a layer of excitement and competition to the tournament. The league has already secured over $35 million in funding and features six teams competing in a round-robin format over eight weeks. As the league begins, it aims to provide players important game experience without the need to go overseas.
