San Jose Bus Driver Slashed by Passenger During Rush Hour
A 23-year-old San Jose man, Darrian Lewis, was arrested for slashing a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus driver multiple times with a large kitchen knife during the morning rush hour. The incident occurred after Lewis repeatedly pulled the stop request cord, prompting the bus driver to confront him, which led to Lewis becoming aggressive and attacking the driver with a 7-inch blade. The driver sustained three cuts but was treated and released from the hospital. Lewis fled the scene but was quickly apprehended by deputies nearby and booked on numerous felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, criminal threats, concealing a dirk or dagger, and probation violation. Authorities emphasized that violence against transit workers or anyone on public transportation will not be tolerated. The attack happened near Blossom Hill Road and Hillview Avenue in San Jose.
