Mass Stabbing Injures 11 at Oregon Homeless Shelter

A mass stabbing occurred Sunday evening at the Union Gospel Mission men's homeless shelter in Salem, Oregon, resulting in 11 people being injured and transported to Salem Health hospital. The suspect, who had stayed at the shelter the previous night and was attempting to check in again, became involved in a fight and allegedly used a knife found in his bag during the altercation. Victims, including at least one staff member, were found both inside the shelter and outside the building, with injuries of varying severity; one victim was reported to be bleeding heavily from the neck. The entire incident was captured on the shelter's security video and has been turned over to investigators. Police arrested the suspect at the scene, but have not yet released his identity or details on charges.
