Rani Punjabi, a woman from Delhi, has claimed that the five acres of land designated for a mosque in Ayodhya belongs to her family, asserting she will appeal to the Supreme Court for possession. She argues that this land is part of a larger 28.35 acres previously allotted to her family after Partition, which they used for farming until 1983. However, Zufar Farooqui, head of the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation Trust overseeing the mosque's construction, stated that Punjabi's claims were previously dismissed by the Allahabad High Court in 2021. He affirmed that construction will begin in October and dismissed any obstacles related to her claims. While Rani expresses no opposition to the mosque itself, she insists on justice regarding her family's ownership rights, highlighting her concerns over the land's disputed status. Farooqui reiterated that the project will proceed as planned despite her claims.
