Recall.ai Raises $38M Series B to Scale Conversation Data Infrastructure

Recall.ai, a San Francisco-based startup that provides backend infrastructure for AI products built on human conversations, has raised $38 million in a Series B funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, valuing the company at $250 million. The company offers a unified API that enables developers to access recordings, transcripts, and metadata from meetings and other conversation types across platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack, and more, significantly reducing integration time from months to days. Recall.ai processes over three terabytes of raw video per second and launches more than 8 million EC2 instances monthly, providing near real-time access to conversation data within 10 seconds after meetings end. Its technology supports a range of applications including automated follow-ups, sales enrichment, and clinical documentation by capturing the world's largest untapped dataset—spoken conversations. The new funds will be used to expand platform coverage to capture conversation data from desktop, phone, dialers, and in-person interactions, as well as to enhance storage, playback, and AI integration capabilities. CEO David Gu emphasized that conversation data is crucial for AI systems to understand context, which is essential for building useful AI-driven products across various industries.
