Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Retires, Three-Time Olympic Champion

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has officially retired after an 18-year career, leaving as a three-time Olympic 100m champion and a record-setting five-time world 100m champion and widely regarded as the most decorated female 100m sprinter in history. She bowed out at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, taking silver in the 4x100m relay and finishing sixth in the individual 100m. A Waterhouse, Kingston native who returned to top-level competition after becoming a mother, Fraser-Pryce amassed 17 world championship medals and became an influential figure for women, parents and aspiring athletes. Off the track she founded the Pocket Rocket Foundation and is a philanthropist, and she said she plans to focus on advocacy, mentorship and inspiring the next generation. In announcing her retirement she thanked Jamaica, family and God, said she wanted to finish on her own terms and described the change as “a lane change,” not the end of her impact on the sport.
