Santa Monica Coffee Shop Burglary Spurs Concern

Santa Monica police are searching for two male suspects who broke into Amai Coffee on Pico Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. on June 23, 2025, shattering the glass front door but stealing nothing and causing about $1,000 in damages. The men, both of average build, were recorded on surveillance fleeing in a white or silver sedan; one wore a black sweater, black face mask, blue jeans, and black shoes, while the other wore a black FILA sweater with white lettering, a red face mask, black pants, and black shoes. Authorities believe this burglary may be linked to a similar incident at Amai Coffee and a break-in at neighboring Dr. T House three months prior. The Santa Monica Police Department has released surveillance footage and requested public assistance in identifying the suspects. Police urge any witnesses to contact Detective Sean Baker or Sergeant Shaun Cooney. The recurrence of such burglaries in the area has heightened concerns among local business owners.
