Taiwan flights cancelled

Taiwan is bracing for the imminent arrival of Typhoon Gaemi, the first typhoon of the season, which is expected to make landfall on the northeast coast on Wednesday evening. As a precaution, financial markets are closed, work and school have been suspended, and the military is on standby, with over 2,000 people already evacuated from high-risk areas. The typhoon, categorized as medium-strength, could bring torrential rain and winds with gusts reaching up to 227 kph, leading to significant disruptions, including the cancellation of almost all domestic flights and 201 international flights. TSMC, a major chip manufacturer, reported it would maintain normal production during the storm. With forecasts predicting up to 70 inches of rain in some areas, authorities are preparing for possible landslides and extensive damage.
