Brooklyn Police Shoot Slashing Suspect During Chase

In Brooklyn, NYPD officers shot and wounded a 29-year-old suspect accused of slashing a man at a men's shelter late Friday night. The incident began with a 911 call reporting a stabbing at the shelter on Duryea Place. Upon arriving, officers found the slashed victim and the suspect, who fled on foot. A chase ensued, ending after approximately two and a half blocks when the suspect allegedly made movements suggesting he had a firearm and charged at the officer, prompting the officer to fire. Although the suspect was unarmed, police recovered a knife and another cutting instrument from the scene. The suspect, with a history of prior arrests including assault, was hospitalized and is expected to survive, with charges pending.
