Fatal Head-On Crash Kills Sheridan Man on US 31 Northbound Westfield

A fatal wrong-way crash occurred on northbound U.S. 31 near 191st Street in Westfield, Indiana, involving a Chevrolet Cruze and a Dodge Ram truck. Edward Johnson, 62, of Sheridan, was driving the Chevrolet Cruze southbound in the northbound lanes when he crossed the median and collided head-on with the Dodge Ram, resulting in his death at the scene. The occupants of the Dodge Ram sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The crash caused a full closure of the northbound lanes, leading to significant traffic delays and a diversion route being issued by the Westfield Police Department. The lanes remained closed for over three hours, reopening around 1 a.m. after authorities completed their investigation and cleared the scene. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
