England Cricket Team Signs New Central Contracts

England's Test and white-ball captains, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, have both signed new two-year central contracts, extending their commitments to the national team until 2026. Stokes initially opted for a one-year deal last year but has now secured a contract that covers significant upcoming series, including the Ashes in Australia. Buttler, who has been sidelined by a calf injury since June, has also renewed his contract despite not participating in the recent IPL season. Additionally, five players—Jamie Smith, Will Jacks, Shoaib Bashir, Phil Salt, and Olly Stone—have received central contracts for the first time. The England and Wales Cricket Board has increased the total number of centrally contracted players to 29, while notable omissions include Ben Foakes and Ollie Robinson. Managing director Rob Key emphasized the depth of talent within the team, highlighting the contracts as a commitment to prioritizing national duties.
