PowerSchool Data Breach Affects School Districts

San Diego Unified School District and New Albany Floyd County School Corporation are among those impacted by a significant data breach involving PowerSchool, a vendor servicing numerous school districts worldwide. The breach potentially exposed student and employee personal data, including contact details and possibly sensitive information like Social Security numbers. Affected families are being offered support such as credit monitoring, and investigations are underway with PowerSchool coordinating with cybersecurity experts and law enforcement to mitigate the risk of data exposure. Meanwhile, transportation incidents were reported, including an overturned vehicle on the I-10 East on-ramp at Highway 73 in Gonzales, which has since been cleared, and a multi-car crash on US-64 in Tulsa County, which temporarily closed the roadway. Both incidents resulted in no major injuries and roads have been reopened.
