Israeli police have arrested a citizen suspected of being recruited by Iranian agents to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar. The plot, which intensified after the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, involved an Israeli businessman with ties to Turkey and Iran, who was approached by Turkish citizens to facilitate financial dealings with Iranian operatives. The businessman was smuggled into Iran multiple times, where he met with Iranian officials and was offered €5,000 to support the assassination plot. He reportedly requested a million dollars before agreeing to participate in various security missions, including espionage activities and threats against Israelis. Although the businessman has been indicted, Shin Bet stated that he had made little progress on the assassination plan, highlighting the serious implications of any engagement with Iran during heightened conflict. The extent of cooperation from Turkish authorities in this case remains unclear.
