Detroit Opens Applications for 8,000 Summer Jobs

Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) in Greater Cleveland is offering over 1,000 summer jobs and career-building programs for teens aged 14 to 18, with applications open until May 1. Jobs pay $13.50 per hour and last between six to eight weeks, with positions ranging from food service to career exploration programs. Similarly, Detroit's Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) program has opened its application portal for 8,000 summer job opportunities for residents aged 14 to 24, which has provided nearly 80,000 work experiences since its inception in 2015. Both programs emphasize the importance of work experience for young people, with GDYT highlighting how some teenagers contribute financially to their families. Participants in both programs must meet certain eligibility criteria and complete an application process.
