Electric Vehicle Innovations and Efficiency Challenges

Electric vehicles (EVs) face challenges in winter, experiencing a range reduction of 20% to 35% due to cold temperatures, which is less efficient compared to internal combustion engines that also suffer increased fuel consumption in winter. The EV Charge Show in Istanbul highlighted the importance of after-sales services and the need for specialized knowledge and equipment for EV maintenance as their popularity grows in Turkey. TOBFED President Serkan Bakırtaş emphasized the necessity for state support to prepare human resources for this transition. Meanwhile, advancements in EV technology were showcased, including Renesas's innovative 8-in-1 E-Axle system, which integrates multiple functions to reduce complexity and cost. Mitsubishi Electric introduced a new silicon carbide MOSFET chip aimed at improving inverter performance and energy efficiency for various electric and hybrid vehicles. These developments indicate a shift towards more efficient and sustainable transportation solutions.
