Norwegian Ski Jumpers, Staff Charged Over Suit Tampering

Five members of Norway's ski jumping team, including Olympic gold medalists Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang, along with two coaches and a service staff member, have been charged with ethics and competition violations by the International Ski Federation (FIS) for allegedly tampering with ski suits at the 2025 World Ski Championships in Trondheim. The Norwegian Ski Federation and team officials acknowledged the suit manipulation but maintain that the athletes were unaware of the alterations. The charges follow a detailed FIS investigation involving 38 witness interviews and examination of 88 pieces of evidence, with no additional individuals expected to be charged. Lindvik and Forfang were disqualified from the large hill event and suspended for the season, with the FIS Ethics Committee now tasked with adjudicating the case and potential sanctions including bans, fines, or disqualification of results. The controversy arises just six months before the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, where Lindvik was favored to defend his large hill title. Despite the turmoil, the Norwegian team leadership has expressed surprise at the charges against the athletes and continues to support their claims of innocence.
