Stormwater Collapses Roof at Madison Grocery Store

A significant roof collapse occurred at the Woodman's grocery store on Milwaukee Street in Madison, Wisconsin, Monday night due to accumulated stormwater caused by clogged drains. The Madison Fire Department confirmed the collapse was not related to fire or gas leaks, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. Firefighters evacuated all customers and employees to a safe area, and the store remains closed pending a full structural inspection. The incident followed a round of storms in the area, which led to water pooling on the roof and eventually causing it to give way. Employees have been allowed to move products within the store but cannot enter the designated safety perimeter. Customers are advised to use other Woodman's locations while repairs and inspections are underway.
