DeSoto County Deputy Injured Stopping Wrong-Way Driver on I-269

On Tuesday night, DeSoto County Deputy Brian Brock was injured while heroically attempting to stop a wrong-way driver on Interstate 269. Brock positioned his SUV in the path of the oncoming vehicle, which was driven by 54-year-old Tracy Balton at speeds exceeding 70 mph, to prevent potential harm to other motorists. Although Brock suffered significant injuries from the head-on collision, he has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. Sheriff Thomas Tuggle praised Brock's selfless actions, stating that he made a decision that could have cost him his life to protect others. Balton, unharmed in the crash, has been charged with felony fleeing a law enforcement officer and is scheduled for a court appearance. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the incident.
