A luxury yacht named The Admiral exploded and burned in Marina del Rey, California, on September 18, 2024, due to the presence of ammunition and fireworks onboard. The fire, which started around 8:30 p.m., produced multiple explosions and a dramatic light show visible throughout the harbor. Despite the intensity of the blaze, which lasted over two hours, the two individuals onboard escaped unharmed. The yacht ultimately sank, spilling approximately 4,000 gallons of diesel into the water, prompting environmental cleanup efforts by the U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No other vessels in the harbor were significantly damaged.
