Gujarat Man Arrested for Daughter’s Murder

In Gujarat's Kheda district, Vijay Solanki was arrested for murdering his seven-year-old daughter, Bhumika, by throwing her into the Narmada canal, reportedly due to disappointment over having two daughters and societal pressure for a male heir. The incident occurred after Solanki took his wife, Anjana, and Bhumika to a temple and then stopped near the Vaghawat bridge on July 10. Initially, Anjana told police the death was accidental but later confessed after Solanki threatened her with divorce and pressured her to conceal the crime. Anjana also revealed years of harassment by Solanki following the birth of their second daughter. Police investigations, which began as an accidental death case, turned suspicious upon recovering the child's body and slippers and after Anjana's confession. Authorities have registered a murder case against Solanki, who remains in custody while the investigation continues.
