Marriott Plans First Autograph Collection Safari Camp in Serengeti 2025

Marriott International is set to open its first Autograph Collection safari camp, the Mapito Safari Camp, in Tanzania's Serengeti in the third quarter of 2025. The camp will feature 16 tented suites, including a two-bedroom villa, all equipped with outdoor decks, fire pits, and retractable roofs for stargazing—a first for the region. Located near the Fort Ikoma gate and along the renowned Great Migration route, guests will have prime access to one of the world's most dramatic wildlife spectacles. Amenities will include a spa, fitness center, swimming pool, and multiple dining options inspired by local traditions, with opportunities for daytime game drives, hot air balloon rides, and cultural engagement. The design will draw inspiration from the surrounding landscape and Ikoma culture, with a strong focus on sustainability and eco-friendly operations. This expansion signals Marriott’s broader ambitions in African experiential travel, with additional luxury safari properties planned for the region.
