New Hydrogen Refuelling Station Opens in France

The COSMHYC DEMO project has launched a new hydrogen refuelling station in the Touraine Vallée de l'Indre region, marking a significant step towards clean hydrogen mobility in Europe. This dual station can service both light and heavy-duty vehicles and is strategically located to enhance the existing hydrogen refuelling network. Meanwhile, a Deloitte report highlights that hydrogen vehicles, particularly in long-haul trucking, may be vital for decarbonization despite facing challenges like high costs and insufficient infrastructure. At an event in Michigan, industry leaders discussed hydrogen's potential role in reducing carbon emissions, emphasizing its suitability for larger vehicles over passenger cars. Additionally, innovative artificial energy islands are being developed to produce hydrogen more sustainably and cost-effectively, which could accelerate the transition from fossil fuels. Lastly, a new 'fossil-free' plastics factory in Belgium may become a future consumer of green hydrogen-based methanol, though it currently plans to source biomethanol from Asia.
