Taylor Raddysh Testifies in Hockey Canada Sexual Assault Trial
Taylor Raddysh, a current Washington Capitals forward and former member of Canada’s 2018 world junior hockey team, became the first player from that roster to testify in the ongoing sexual assault trial of five teammates accused of assaulting a woman in a London, Ontario hotel room after a Hockey Canada event. Raddysh testified remotely and stated he had difficulty recalling many details of the night, including what he saw in the hotel room, though he did confirm he entered Michael McLeod’s room briefly and saw a woman present. The trial has focused heavily on issues of consent, with jurors viewing videos from the night in question, including one where the woman, identified as E.M., stated events were consensual, though the Crown continues to press the issue. Raddysh also acknowledged text exchanges with McLeod and described the team dynamics and leadership roles, particularly that of captain Dillon Dubé. All five accused—McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dubé, and Callan Foote—have pleaded not guilty. The case, which came to public attention after a 2022 report on Hockey Canada’s handling of the initial lawsuit, continues with Raddysh expected to resume his testimony.
