Paredes Extends Contract; Stampeders Restructure Roster

Rene Paredes, one of the CFL's most reliable kickers, has signed a two-year contract extension with the Calgary Stampeders, ensuring he stays with the team through the 2026 season. Paredes, who has been with the Stampeders for 13 seasons, demonstrated outstanding performance last season by converting 41 of 44 field goals, achieving a 93.2% success rate. His career field goal percentage of 87.87 ranks him third all-time among kickers with at least 100 attempts. The Stampeders, who had their worst season in 20 years with a 5-12-1 record, aim to rebuild under head coach and GM Dave Dickenson, and Paredes's re-signing is seen as a small step towards improvement.
