Fox Orders 12-Episode Baywatch Reboot

Fox has greenlit a straight-to-series 12-episode Baywatch reboot for the 2026–27 season, co-produced with Fremantle. Matt Nix will serve as showrunner, with original creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann and Doug Schwartz and Dante Di Loreto among the executive producers. The producers promise the franchise’s signature elements — red swimsuits, slow‑motion running, high‑stakes rescues and romance — updated for a modern audience. No casting has been confirmed, though reports have named Sydney Sweeney as an early rumored frontrunner. Producers say the reboot will try to learn from past attempts, including the 2017 film, and aims to honor Baywatch’s global legacy while re-energizing the property for a new generation.
