Man Charged With Murder Five Years After Epping Stabbing

Yonas Girma, a 28-year-old man from Hanworth, has been charged with the murder of Stephen Morrison, who died from a stab wound following a confrontation in a car park in Epping, Essex, in June 2020. Stephen, aged 30, was able to drive away from the scene but collapsed at a nearby Shell garage and later died in hospital. After a five-year investigation involving the review of over 200 hours of CCTV footage and examination of numerous phones, computers, and vehicles, Girma was arrested in Feltham and charged with murder. Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood emphasized that while the charge is a significant step, the investigation is ongoing to ensure justice for Stephen's family and friends. The police have committed to leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of those responsible for Stephen’s death. The case highlights the persistence of law enforcement in solving cold cases and delivering accountability even after several years.
