EU Implements 15th Sanctions Package Against Russia

The European Union has enacted its 15th sanctions package against Russia, targeting 52 vessels from Russia's shadow fleet involved in circumventing sanctions on oil and gas exports. This package aims to weaken Russia's military-industrial complex and includes asset freezes and travel bans for 84 individuals and entities connected to actions undermining Ukraine's sovereignty, including those linked to attacks on civilian facilities. Notably, the sanctions extend for the first time to Chinese entities supplying components to support Russia's military efforts. EU High Representative Kaja Kallas emphasized that these measures demonstrate the unity of EU member states in their commitment to supporting Ukraine. In a parallel development, Russia launched significant air strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which President Zelenskiy condemned as an act of terror.
