Yorkshire Signs India Opener Mayank Agarwal for 2025 Season

Yorkshire County Cricket Club has signed Indian international opener Mayank Agarwal for a short-term stint through the end of the 2025 County Championship season. Agarwal, 34, will join the squad ahead of their match against Somerset and is expected to play three matches before returning to India for the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy season as Karnataka's captain. With a strong first-class record of over 8,000 runs at an average near 44, including 18 centuries, and 21 Test matches for India scoring 1,488 runs at an average of 41.33, Agarwal brings valuable experience to Yorkshire's lineup. He is familiar with English conditions, having toured with the Indian Test team twice and featured in the 2023 World Test Championship final. His signing is part of a larger trend of Indian players participating in English county cricket this year, alongside names like Khaleel Ahmed and Yuzvendra Chahal. Yorkshire's General Manager of Cricket, Gavin Hamilton, expressed enthusiasm about Agarwal's addition to the squad, highlighting the depth and experience he offers for the final stage of the season.
