HBO Announces Cast for Harry Potter TV Series
HBO has officially announced the cast for its upcoming Harry Potter TV series, with John Lithgow playing Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Luke Thallon will take on the role of Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse will portray Argus Filch. This series, executive produced by J.K. Rowling among others, aims to be a faithful adaptation of the original book series, exploring the wizarding world in depth over a planned 10-year run. Notably, Lithgow expressed surprise at being cast and acknowledged the significance of taking on a role that will define his career's final chapter. The show is anticipated to begin filming in the summer, with open casting still ongoing for the main characters of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
