The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the 309-km Manmad-Indore railway line project costing Rs 18,036 crore, aiming for completion by 2028-29. This new line will enhance connectivity between Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, benefiting around 1,000 villages and fostering economic growth through improved routes for commodities, industry, and tourism. The project will generate significant employment and boost tourism, particularly to religious sites like the Sri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple. It will also provide direct connectivity to industrial zones such as the Pithampur Auto Cluster and agricultural areas, facilitating better distribution of crops. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has requested an expedited deadline to accommodate the Ujjain Simhastha event.
