Shreveport Man Found Guilty of Double Murder, Attempted Murder
Donald Dewayne White II, a 32-year-old Shreveport man, was found guilty of two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder for a 2024 attack where he shot and killed his former domestic partner and her mother, and attempted to kill her father. The incident occurred when White forcibly entered the home of his common-law wife's parents, shooting the mother and father, and then fatally shooting the estranged partner as she tried to escape. Three small children were present during the shooting but were unharmed. White confessed to the crimes in a recorded interview played during trial, and the jury returned a unanimous verdict after one hour of deliberation. Prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jason Waltman and Chris Bowman, White acted in his own defense with legal assistance from Harry Johnson. He faces mandatory life sentences without the possibility of parole for the murders and a lengthy sentence for the attempted murder when sentenced in September 2025.
