Drivers Sentenced for Fatal Crashes Across States

Several drivers have recently been sentenced in connection with fatal car crashes, highlighting the serious consequences of impaired and reckless driving. Vincent Ian Acosta received a 22-year prison sentence for a wrong-way crash that killed three Grand Canyon University students while he was driving under the influence. Laramie Schemenauer was sentenced to 360 days in jail for a crash that resulted in his wife's death, charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. In another case, Rebecca Kumar, 18, was sentenced to two years in prison for driving over 100 mph, resulting in the death of her 14-year-old passenger. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old was sentenced to two years in a youth facility after killing his girlfriend in an ATV crash. Lastly, Abian Martinez, a 19-year-old, was sentenced to five years in prison for a DUI crash that left one woman dead and another seriously injured.
