Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to release the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) manifesto, 'Sankalp Patra,' for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections during his two-day visit. Shah's visit aims to address internal party dissent and defections over ticket distribution and to kickstart the BJP's campaign for the elections, which will be held in three phases starting September 18. Security has been heightened in Jammu for Shah's visit, and he will be addressing rallies and meetings with party leaders and workers. The BJP has so far announced 51 candidates for the 90-member assembly, including J&K unit president Ravinder Raina from Nowshera. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders are also expected to campaign in the region. The elections in J&K are significant as they are the first since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019.
